General guidelines for written submissions

1. Author(s) should send articles as MS Word- readable files.
2. Should be accessible to a readership beyond academic circles.
3. Should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. 
4. Should contain a title page listing the title of the paper, the name(s) and address(es) of the author(s), acknowledgments of outside help, documentation of permissions granted if the document includes images, and indicate whether the submission is general or specific to a particular issue CFP.
5. The text of the article should be single-spaced, and typed in a font size of 12 pt or above.
6. Major subheadings should be in Bold. Headings for subsections within those sections should be in Italics.
7. References should follow the Chicago Style Guide, author-date system, sometimes known as Chicago B. Please do not use footnotes or endnotes for citations.
8. Supplementary notes should be indicated in brackets i.e. [1] with the notes section at the end of the article, immediately before the reference list. 
9. A full list of references should be provided on a separate page or pages at the end of the document.

Articles

1. Should be between 4,000-8,000 words (not including references or abstract).
2. Should have a 200 word (max) abstract and 150 word (max) author bio.
3. Should otherwise follow general guidelines.

Book Reviews

1. Should be no more than 2,000 words (not including references).
2. Should have 150 word (max) author bio.
3. Review a book published within the past 3 years.
4. Strive to summarize and critique developments in a particular area relevant to the journal’s themes.
5. Should otherwise follow general guidelines.

Artistic Presentations

Studies in Control Societies invites artistic submissions if accompanied by text that situates the work of art in relation to the journal’s themes.

1. Accompanying text should be between 2,000-3,000 words.
2. Should also include 150 word (max) author bio.
